It's normal.

He yells about pretty much everything, all the time, constantly.
The neighbors file noise complaints.

Not really?
Even when we're not texting each other and no one is around in his apartment, I hear him yelling sometimes when he's watching baseball or wailing when he's reading his shoujo. He gets really into ... everything.

I don't think so. Maybe next time we have physicals I'll tell him to ask about it.

We've known each other since middle school
And I can honestly say that I've never once seen him distracted by loud noises.
He can pass out on the bus to and from away games, even when the rest of the team is being loud.
He also yells in his sleep, if that tells you anything.

No problem. It's a good idea, though.

Well I know what I'm going to drill into his head for his senior year.
He was supposed to stop sleeping in classes.

The same way you talk in your sleep, I guess. Just louder.
Like everything he does.

To his credit he sleeps very quietly in class
That's the only reason he's gotten away with it this long
