[ The top of the seat honestly didn't look so far up from where she'd stood on the seat, but the length of time it takes for them to haul themselves up there says otherwise, and it's a little dizzying glancing down the back of the seat all the way down to the floor from where she perches on top. Looking up isn't much better, the cord closer but not as much as she'd hoped. ]
Alright. If I'm too heavy, do what you gotta do, but drop me forward onto the seat and not back, okay?
[ She has faith! but not a lot. Climbing makes for sore arms, and Koushuu's going to have to bear her entire weight holding her up and balancing them both against the shaking bus, so better rest up now before the light comes up. ]
[ Truthfully, he's doing everything in his power to not look down. Looking straight ahead is enough of a trip for him, he doesn't want to deal with the vertigo on top of the Alice in Wonderland levels of screwed up perspective. Even looking up isn't something he really finds himself liking all that much, but they don't really have much of a choice in this - if they want to stop the bus, they have to pull the chord.
Koushuu... sighs. It's been a long day already. ]
Just try not to move that much. If you start to lose your balance, go left - I'll put that shoulder towards the seat. [ And with that, he moves close to the window, taking a knee and holding his hand back towards her, even as he squints ahead at the front of the bus. Waiting, ready to help her step up once the traffic stops. ]
[ Mafuyu raises a fist and pumps it in the air— the left one, to show that she's listening— standing at the ready with her eyes trained on past the front window of the bus. Not yet... She takes hold of the fabric and crouches low to maintain her balance as she feels the inertial force of the slowing bus, because how pathetic would it be to get thrown off before they even reach the light? Forward, back, and then ]
Now!
[ Quick steps, knee, shoulder, one foot and then the other, leaned forward slightly with her hands ghosting the side of the bus so that she can help balance from up here as Koushuu stands as straight and tall as he can. ]
[ If she falls left, or puts her weight on the left, Koushuu figures that it won't be as much of a problem for either of them. She'll hit the seat - as terrifying a fall that'd be - and it's not his throwing shoulder that might get hurt.
But they hit a red, and he's thankful she's so in tune with it. He gets her up onto his shoulders, and his hands immediately curl around her ankles, sliding up above them so that the stabilization isn't quite so low, so that he can get to his feet. He's going to be sore after this, but it'll be worth it just to get off the damn bus.
So he straightens up, leaning his forehead against the side of the bus and going onto the balls of his feet. ]
[ Mafuyu tries to do the same, shifting her weight up front to her toes as she lifts up on them, wishing she could stand up on her toes like how Anya makes look so easy in dance, but all she can do is reach up as high as she can, stretching one arm up, up, up... not high enough to reach the cord, the tip of her middle finger barely brushing against the underside of it but not enough to grab hold of it.
The cord slackens towards her left, and it'll be easier to reach from there if she sacrifices balance, Mafuyu thinks as she leans just the slightest bit left, because she's already taking too long and Koushuu won't be able to hold her forever—
the light changes, yellow reflected in the window ]
KOUSHUU, LET GO!!
[ Her knees bend in warning: she's going to jump for the cord, it's right there, she can make it. ]
[ Everything is precarious enough as it is - Koushuu worries that they both might fall, standing like this, but he holds on regardless and strains to stand as tall as possible. At least he's not a short guy. But the problem remains that they still can't reach, and he adjusts his own weight as Mafuyu shifts hers, baring and gritting his teeth as his jaw tenses. He can't see where things are, but he can see the light change.
Shit. Shit.
This is stupid and risky, and they don't really have much of a choice, so. Koushuu lets go of her with a great deal of reluctance, hunching his shoulders to give her a better launch point. ]
[ It's stupid and risky but honestly, what's new? Mafuyu pushes off hard, hands reaching out to grab the cord. She makes it, because she would drop to her death and null the rest of the month if she didn't, the combined weight of her jump and herself being enough to tug the cord down and that glorious ping! sounds in the air to request the next stop. ]
Yes! We did it!!
[ Mafuyu looks over at Koushuu excitedly over her shoulder, swinging from the cord because she can't exactly let go to because she'll die. She might still die, stranded there in the middle of nowhere, and it'll take some time to scale her way back to one side. ]
